Titan buff
in the background with streaks of dioxazine purple. The couch is
painted in--roughly. Now the collage in the background begins.![]() |
A
trip to kinko's nets these elements to add to the collage/ costume design
info research support. Also a copy of Peggy Ashcroft's quote in my
handwriting, reversed for a transfer. |
Hair is added. I think there is too much maybe and I will paint it back, but ok for now. |

The plan now is to paint over the collaged background --like a glaze, or thicker in some areas. Then I still need to work out the costume design specs. Wonder what the name o f the theatre should be and the imaginary director etc? I've been toying with the name "Teatro de Chihuahua". But wonder if that will make sense. Or Last Chance Theatre. Nope, too melodramatic. I think maybe her eyes might be looking in the wrong direction. It's the right direction if I leave the painting as it is without adding the costume elements. Now Katherine is telling me to stop, that she likes the background as it is, just finish the woman and the dress. But I have this commitment to say this thing about theatre. Otherwise it's just another reclining woman painting. I'm irritated and afraid she is right and that by proceeding, I will ruin it altogether. |

Now the
first layer of the skin tone is on, and the glaze is over the
collage. It's flat. I like it, but I'm going somewhere
else.
I'm committed to adding more layers of meaning and interest. If I stop now, I will feel like I've broken a promise to myself. |
